Dr Emma Howard MBChB Bsc ( hons) PGc MedEd FRCP, is a leading London dermatologist at the internationally renowned St John’s Institute for Dermatology, based at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, London.
With nearly 20 years experience working in the NHS and now at the internationally renowned St John’s Institute for Dermatology, Dr Emma Howard has a wealth of experience in diagnosing and treating a range of medical dermatological conditions, skin cancers & benign lesions. Her specialist interest is in Paediatric and Adolescent Dermatology.
Dr Emma Howard studied Medicine at Edinburgh University, Her postgraduate training and specialist training in Dermatology, continued in London and then to Bristol when she relocated with her family to settle in Gloucestershire. After completing specialist training in all aspects of Dermatology, she joined the specialist General Medical Councils register, as a Consultant Dermatologist (GMC 6050325) .Subsequently she then went on, to complete a prestigious 1 year accredited fellowship in Paediatric Dermatology, at the leading paediatric centre; Birmingham Children’s Hospital and is now a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. ( FRCP)
She is passionate about Dermatology, and conducts research into dermatological conditions and patient experiences as an essential part of her job. She has and is actively involved with national and international research projects and trials and has published extensively in peer-reviewed scientific journals. She is also the Lead for Quality Improvement at the St Johns Institute of Dermatology and has spoken nationally and internationally both at scientific meetings and to the media about skin related issues.
A strong advocate for her patients, she is on the board of the charity Changing Faces and she has completed several fundraising challenges, including the London Marathon.
Dr Emma holds a number of key positions within dermatological societies. She is the currently on the executive of the British Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Dermatology,– a group responsible for developing high standards of service delivery and training to dermatologists working in the field of paediatric dermatology and she also represents Dermatology on the Young Adults and adolescents Steering group at the Royal College of Physicians.
When she is not working, Emma enjoys spending time with family and friends and being outdoors as much as possible. She is married to Tom and is a mother of 4 boys.
Below are sample procedure/consultation costs. If a surgical procedure is advised then we will discuss and provide a bespoke quote based on your individual concerns. These prices apply for all appointments from the 1st of January 2025 . Surgical procedures (not consultations) require the payment of a hospital and histology fee in addition, making the total cost for a surgical procedure between approximately £500 to £1500.

Around 50% of patients require a follow up consultation. This is 20 minutes. If however the issue is complex or there are multiple concerns a longer consultation can be arranged and the fee adjusted accordingly.

Please note these are Dr Howard's professional charges and are independent to the fees charged by Tetbury/Nuffield Hospital. These charges listed below are based on a non-complex procedure, fees may be adjusted according to complexity, an individual quote of the treatment costs, will be provided before treatment is commenced.
This is a diagnostic procedure to support the investigation of various skin conditions, the cost depends on number of biopsies and their location, the price quoted here is the minimum cost for one cutaneous punch biopsy
All histology is sent to LDPath for analysis, an independent, pathology
